Case Study 1: A large
construction company required a short course program to develop its
high-potential employees.
Together with the company's senior staff, UTS designed a
short course program, which lead to various UTS awards (such as Graduate
Certificate in Management, Graduate Diploma in Management or an MBA) depending
upon the needs of the employees. The program was delivered in a flexible mode
to suit both the company and the participants.
The outstanding success of the
program resulted in an additional program being planned for the company's
executive team.
Case Study 2: A
global company's original brief was for a short course program for its
Australian and New Zealand functional managers designed to have them
"think more broadly - across the business".
UTS developed a program, in three modules each of three
days, to run in parallel with a business simulation where the managers competed
in teams.
Due to its overwhelming success, the company asked that
the program be repeated the following year and also requested an international
management program for its European and Asia-Pacific managers.
Case
Study 3: With its expanding
economy and entry into the World Trade Organisation, China is rapidly changing
to meet reform demands by fast tracking educational development. UTS was
invited to be a provider of short courses for visitors to Australia,
particularly government officials, plus legal and commercial professionals.
As a result, UTS is delivering a
range of short courses which provide an introduction to the Australian Legal
systems including; concepts of natural justice, the rules of evidence,
anticorruption techniques, intellectual property, and international law and WTO
law.
UTS has developed a strong
relationship and is a major provider for this sector.
Case
Study 4: The
emergence of the Web left many designers without skills to respond to the
complex interdisciplinary approach required to take advantage of new employment
opportunities.
UTS designed an integrated three
level Web Design program affordable for individuals in need of high quality
knowledge and skills. The program is delivered in intensive two-day weekend
mode with each level one month apart to allow for consolidation of skills.
This short course has now run for four years with many
companies sending teams of staff for retraining. Individual success stories
have also been important with real benefits for designers attempting to respond
to client demands for website expertise. One freelance participant paid for the
first level of the course and her major client was so impressed with her
progress they paid for the other two levels.
